I haven’t written much about what’s going on in our lives lately. We recently changed churches, which is usually a very scary and anxious undertaking. But God has been very good to us. We’ve been attending The Avenue for about 3 months, and officially joined today. In the very short time we’ve been going there, we’ve built some very good friendships. I’ve lived long enough to know that real friendships do not come often. But it’s like we’ve hit the ground running, and we’ve met many, many people there that seem like they will be wonderful friends. About half of the parents of Jaxon’s T-ball team that I just finished coaching go to The Avenue. And most of them are in our Sunday School and/or our big life group. This is the first time in a long time that Beth and I have had this many couples friends that we both enjoy doing things with. We’ve met a lot of good people at The Avenue. We also love the worship service, both the praise & worship and the preaching. Pastor Brown seems to be a very genuine person, and has a lot of Godly wisdom. He’s about as transparent as I’ve ever seen from a pastor. He presents himself as a real person with real struggles, just like the rest of us.

Gramm is now 5 months old, and growing so fast. He is sleeping through the night now, which is wonderful, mostly for Beth. Jaxon is 5 years old, and just finished his T-ball season. He had a lot of fun with his friends, and is disappointed that it’s over. He will be starting Kindergarten next month, which is very hard to believe. I’m working with him and his reading most every night, and he’s doing very well, according to his unbiased dad. He can read just about any 3 letter word and seems to really enjoy it. He goes and gets his reading book every night on his own.

We are leaving for Florida next Monday, Aug 4th. We are going to visit Beth’s parents, and plan to stay a couple days on the beach while we are there. Jaxon is very excited… almost as much as me :-) I love traveling anywhere.

For my weight update, I have reached my 1st goal of losing 25 lbs. But have been stuck there for a while. My next goal is not a # goal, but rather that I can fit into all my XL size T-shirts. I can fit into about 20% of them now. I would guess another 10-15 lbs. should do it.
