I get unusual emails often at work. Sometimes it’s because my company is Finish and the language translation from Finish to English is sometimes strange. But I got this one today with the subject, “Free the Children on the Oprah Winfrey Show”. At first I thought it was some kind of spam, but then noticed it was from somebody in my company, and was a legitimate email. At that point, several thoughts began going through my mind…

  1. I didn’t even know Oprah had children on her show
  2. Why would Oprah lock them up?
  3. Why is somebody sending me a corporate email asking my help to free the children that Oprah has locked up?
  4. Shouldn’t law enforcement take care of that?
  5. How many children does Oprah have locked up?
  6. Are they in a cage? Handcuffed?
  7. And if she’s going to lock them up, why would she do it on her TV show where everybody can see her evil deeds?

So I decided to investigate further. Turns out “Free the Children” is an organization in Canada that tries to help children. Who would have known?
