Christmas In October
filed in Life on Oct.13, 2008
Losing friends really sucks. I’m sure all of us have had a good friend move away. I know I’ve had a few close friends that have left. It feels terrible, much like a part of you has been ripped out and is missing. It’s bad enough when people leave, but it’s even worse when people leave and don’t keep in touch. You bums know who you are. But then if you are one of the bums that left and doesn’t keep in touch, there’s about as much of a chance of you reading my blog as an Amish guy.
I think some people are just natural leavers, and some are leavees. I seem to be the leavee more often than the leaver. At this point you are probably wondering what this has to do with Christmas in October. Well, while it might be really painful to lose a friend, it’s really awesome when a good friend moves back. I just found out that one of my good friends that I grew up with is moving back to Waxahachie from Dallas. About the closest emotion I can compare it to is when I got out of bed on Christmas morning and found a new basketball goal sitting in the living room from Santa (one of which I would whoop his butt on many times to come). Adults don’t really get to experience that type of excitement very often. But I’m very happy that my friend is coming home. And even better, he’s married and has an 8-month old little boy that is 10 days older than our 7 month old. So in a few years, they will be in school together, and in sports together, and all the other stuff kids do together.
Yahoo! Merry Early Christmas to me!

That friend probably looks forward to setting the record straight on that same basketball goal. He sure remembers things differently.
