Getting Into Uniform
filed in Life, T-Shirt Business on Sep.01, 2008
This was the first year for Jaxx Shirts to provide school uniforms for a school, First Christian Day School. Our son went there last year, the first year he had to wear uniforms, and it was a royal pain trying to get uniforms for him. The only company that sells them close to here is Southwest Uniform in DeSoto and Red Oak. They never had what we needed in stock, and when we ordered a single polo shirt, they told it would take 3 weeks to get it, and they were $19.50 for a plain ole Polo with the school logo embroidered on it. What’s he supposed to wear for these 3 weeks? So being that I had my own T-shirt company, I told them to forget it and made his own for him. Unfortunately other parents did not have that luxury.
So last fall, I went to the principal of the school and offered to supply the uniforms for the school in a deal that should be better for everybody involved. I sell everything at a reduced price compared to what Southwest sells them for, and I will donate 5% of the total sales to the school. AND, I deliver all the uniforms to the school so the parents don’t have to go out of their way to pick them up. So that’s a lot of what I’ve been doing for the past month.
So far so good. Being our first year, I think everything has gone very well. We had a few items that came in the Friday before school, but we delivered them to the parents personally over the weekend.
